Classrooms of the Future
21st Century Classrooms
SRVEF is working closely with the San Ramon Valley Unified School District to bring 21st Century technology and teaching methods to the classroom to enhance the education of our children. We call our initiative the Classroom of the Future. It includes improved curriculum via standardized or customized electronic presentations; improved communication through sound systems and overhead projection; and, improved learning assessment tools for instantaneous feedback of student understanding of lessons and ongoing individual data accumulation for teacher follow-up with students needing special attention. The Classroom of the Future will provide teachers the tools and training needed to communicate complex lessons effectively to large student groups while getting ongoing individualized feedback on student learning which can be used to tailor remedial programs to student needs.
The key elements of the Classroom of the Future are:
Classroom Sound System- speakers and microphones in the classroom will allow for amplification of the teacher’s voice during class instruction. This will allow students at every area of the classroom to hear the teacher’s voice and allow the teacher critical mobility during lectures and collaboration time.
Document Camera/Overhead Projection System/Smart Board—these tools allow instant projection of virtually any media (print and electronic) to enhance classroom instruction.
Mobile Tablet Device—iPad, iTouch, and other Android devices bring critical applications into the classroom to enhance classroom instruction and allow for customized curriculum to be delivered instantly.
Student Personal Response Systems and Ongoing Learning Assessment tool—the ability for an instructor to get instant feedback on curriculum from students is critical to their success in the classroom. These hand held devices flow into assessments that allow instructors to modify their lessons based on student feedback which can be anonymous or public.
We feel so strongly about the importance of this initiative for the students of our District, that we have made it our top funding priority. If you would like to support this initiative or would like more information, please contact us at info@srvef.org . We would love to hear from you!
