ELIGIBILITY:

SRVUSD teachers, counselors, librarians, administrators, and other District personnel, parents and student groups (with teacher authorization) are all eligible to apply.

INFORMATION:

SRVEF encourages grant applications from grade-level or department teams, which will spread the benefits of the grant to more students.

The grant must be used by the applicant(s) and/or their school; it may not be used as a donation to another entity.

Educator Grant applications are limited to one grant proposal per person, whether as an individual applicant or as part of a group. This restriction does not apply to having your name on the Science Grant application or as part of your school's RWP Grant application.

Grant applications that are NOT likely to receive funding are:

  • Requests for anything the district has an ordinary obligation to provide (desks, textbooks, office machines, computers)
  • Travel and lodging expenses related to professional development conferences (we will consider the funding of registration costs for conferences)
  • Reading & Writing Project requests submitted as Educator Grants (Click here to learn about RWP grants for 2008 - 2009)
  • Rent
  • Salaries

Incomplete applications will not be considered.

CRITERIA FOR CONSIDERATION

SRVEF seeks to fund grant proposals that foster innovation and creative strategies for teaching and motivating students to learn.

Grant applications will be considered based on the following:

  • Enhanced Student Learning (50 points)

Grant awards will be announced the week of April 7th, 2008

For 2008-2009, the San Ramon Valley Education Foundation will continue to support the district Reading and Writing Project through grants. This year, however, we will permit each school to allocate the funds as they see fit. SRVEF will grant $1,000 to each SCHOOL that has submitted an appropriate application.

Each school may submit ONE application. The application must describe how the funds will be used.

Some funding examples:

  • A school may choose to spend half their grant on professional development with in-school coaches for 8th grade teachers, and half on RWP-related books.
  • A school may decide to give every RWP-trained teacher a portion of the grant funds.
  • A school may chose to use all of their funds for professional development.

The application MUST:

  1. Be submitted by the principal and one RWP-trained school representative (both names must be part of the application);
  2. Briefly describe how the funds will be used and how it fits with the overall strategy of the RWP at your school; and,
  3. Be submitted electronically through the SRVUSD/SRVEF Grant system.
